2012 Hall of Honor Nominees

Dear Beta Phi Brothers,

It is with great pleasure that the Hall of Honor Nominating Committee announces the nominees for the 2012 Hall of Honor Induction Ceremony. The ceremony will take place at the La Paloma Resort on Friday afternoon November 9 during our Annual Homecoming Celebration Weekend. Click here to rsvp.

As you will recall, the Hall of Honor membership criteria is focused on the leadership skills that Beta Phi members have demonstrated in (1) their respective professional careers; (2) their community service and philanthropic activities or (3) in their commitments to Sigma Chi. In order to be a candidate for the Hall of Honor, an individual must have exhibited strong leadership skills in two of the three membership criteria.

The nominees for the Beta Phi Hall of Honor Class of 2012 & their abbreviated resumes are as follows:

Donald C. Buckley ’78: M.D. Chief of Staff of Mercy Health Anderson Hospital and the Director of Cardiac Surgery unit in Cincinnati, Ohio. Recipient of the Significant Sig Award by Sigma Chi Fraternity in 2011. Active participant in the Beta Phi undergraduate chapter and served as Consul in 1977-78. Active as a civic and non-profit Board member.

Marc C. Blackman ’82: President and CEO of Gold Eagle Company, a national automotive chemicals company headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. A current member of the World Presidents Organization and a Board member of the Automotive Specialty Products Association. Active participant in the Beta Phi undergraduate chapter and served as Consul in 1981-82. Active as a civic and non-profit Board member.

James D. Campbell ’87: Practicing attorney in the law firm of Kinerk, Schmidt & Sethi in Tucson, Arizona. Graduate of the University of Arizona Law School and active participant in the Beta Phi undergraduate chapter. President of the Sigma Chi Building Company from 1995 to 2011 and currently serves on the Sigma Chi Alumni Chapter Executive Committee and as an officer of the Sigma Chi Building Company. Active as a civic and non-profit Board member.

Barry Gabel ’84: Executive Vice President of CB Richard Ellis in the Capital Markets Group in Phoenix, Arizona. Recipient of the NAIOP Investment Broker of the Year Award and Commercial Executive Magazine Annual Recognition Award. Former President and Executive Council member of the Phoenix Boys and Girls Club and current Phoenix Children’s Hospital Board member. Active participant in the Beta Phi undergraduate chapter and served as Magister in 1983-84. Active as a civic and non-profit Board member.

Brad S. Butler ’90: M.D. Former President and Board member of the Arizona College of Emergency Physicians in Phoenix, Arizona. Recipient of Navy and Marine Corp Commendation Medals in 2010 and 2012 and a Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal in 2011 for his services in Afghanistan. Undergraduate activities included Phi Kappa Phi membership and the Bobcats senor honorary. Active as a civic and non-profit Board member.

Scott W. Sheafe ’92: Global Security Director of Mars Corporation in McLean, Virginia with responsibility for the development and management of their international global security operation. Former senior member of United States Presidential Secret Service team and recipient of the New England Federal Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award in 2005. Undergraduate activities included being the Freshman of the Year Award recipient and serving in the Beta Phi Chapter as the Magister and Annotator. Active as a civic and non-profit Board member.

As members of the Nominating Committee, we want to congratulate our 2012 Hall of Honor nominees and we are hopeful that you will be able to join us at the Annual Hall of Honor induction ceremony. Our homecoming weekend celebration will also be a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the 91th Anniversary of the Beta Phi Chapter. Please plan on attending the Friday night dinner and the special program at the La Paloma Resort.
