Beta Phi Undergrads And Alumni Advisors Attend Leadership Workshop

Nine undergraduate brothers and four alumni advisors attended the 2009 Balfour Leadership Training Workshop at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from July 30 to Aug. 2.

Chapter advisor Robin Winters, house corporation treasurer Tom Scott, Tucson alumni president and grand trustee Steve Schuyler, and Bill Scott, Southwestern grand praetor and dean of the Praetorial College joined the undergraduates at the workshop.

The workshop is the premier event of its kind in the fraternity world. With more than 1,700 undergraduates and alumni members in attendance under the motto “By This Act of Ours”, undergraduate brothers, chapter advisors and house corporation officers learn leadership training and mentoring and the hands-on aspects of performing their duties for the fraternity.  Spread over three days, students and faculty members spend long hours with the goal to obtain improved results at the chapter operations level.

During the workshop, several young brothers were initiated at the largest initiation ceremony in fraternity — all fraternities — history.  It was a special for the new initiates to have so many Sigma Chi Brothers attend their initiation.

Thanks go to Mike Dunn and his staff for the hard work that into making the event one our Beta Phi Brothers will remember for years to come.
