Brother Bruce Larson, Beta Phi ’50, a former head basketball coach at the University of Arizona, was named to the Pima County Sports Hall of Fame on June 10.
Larson was named head coach to replace Fred Enke Sr. in 1961 and held the job until 1972. He first came to the UA because of his interest in the baseball program.
He was head coach in 1951 at Eastern Arizona Junior College, which finished second in the country. He then moved on to head Weber State’s basketball program where he was named National Junior College Coach of the Year in 1959.
He is a member of the UA, Weber State and National Junior College halls of fame. Congratulations to Brother Larson on this richly deserved honor.
