Undergrads Attend Development Meeting

Fifteen Beta Phi actives and pledges attended a programming and leadership development meeting in Albuquerque, N.M. on Feb. 20-21 with chapter representatives from four states.

Chapters from Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona participated in workshops that also included ones on brotherhood development, philantrophy administrtion, committee and officer development, and other aspects of chapter operations.

The University of New Mexico’s Beta Xi chapter played host to the joint Southwest and Rocky Mountain Province meeting.

The Beta Phi chapter will be sending five or six men to the annual Balfour Leadership Training Workshop to be held in 2009 at the end of July at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. They will spend four days deeply immersed in presentations, duscussions and problem-solving sessions about chapter operations and other issues that affect a chapter’s viability.
The workshop, established in 1947, is an annual summer program designed to improve the quality of leadership in their chapters. Participants are challenged to clarify their values and role those values play in their leadership decision-making.
